CAN WE HELP?

State of the Business Sales Market 1st to 15th February 2013

In general, enquiries are still very strong and as we’re part way through February, we are looking at matching, if not improving on the number of enquiries received for the month of January 2013. It has been very pleasing seeing a high amount of offers being made on businesses this month, a positive sign indeed! In some cases we have seen two parties competing for the same business which is... more

State of the Business Sales Market 15th to 30th January 2013

We’ll let the graphs do the talking in this report. You can see from the first graph the spike in the number of Confidentiality Agreements signed by prospective buyers in the later part of January (note we were closed for the first two weeks of January).  The second graph records the amount of activity in our office, the increase in enquiries and ‘work’ involved with business... more

State of the Business Sales Market 1st to 15th January 2013

I hope you enjoyed a well-deserved break over the Christmas and New Year period.  Our office is back and ready for what I believe will be a far better year in terms of business sales. As we only re-opened our office yesterday, we do not have available a graph of stats to show you but there are positive signs in the amount of general enquiries about business sales. In 2013 you will see a... more

State of the Business Sales Market 1st to 15th Decemeber 2012

This will be my last official blog on this site for 2012, in what has been a very challenging year.  Our office will close on the 20th and re-open on the 14th of January. 2012 has definitely been a challenging year in respect to business sales, but as I’ve been pressing numerous times in this bog, I believe a change is just around the corner.  The result of the number of enquiries this... more

State of the Business Sales Market 15th to 30th November 2012

State of the Business Sales Market 15th to 30th November 2012
As you will see in the graph below, my previous prediction that the enquiry rate would increase later in November has come true.  I believe it is a result of two main factors. The upward trend is a continuation of the slowly improving market that was just briefly interrupted by school holidays and the Melbourne Cup weekend.  Keep in mind many of our prospective business buyers do have school... more

State of the Business Sales Market 1st to 15 November 2012

We have been able to develop a new report within our database which will hopefully provide us with a better insight into the business sales market. We call this graph, ‘Activity Performance’. In short, this graph measures the amount of activity in our office of prospective buyers, i.e. enquiries, business profiles sent, meetings etc. Hence it is an all-encompassing performance graph rather... more

State of the Business Sales Market 15th to 30 October 2012

State of the Business Sales Market 15th to 30 October 2012
You can see from the graph below that the enquiry level for October is up on September, thus indicating the market is still on the slow improvement.  It is odd to think that the school holidays and the Melbourne Cup weekend is affects business sales enquiries, but our reports indicate that it does.  Hence if we were to remove the school holiday factor I think we would have found the level of... more

State of the Business Sales Market 1st to 15th October

State of the Business Sales Market 1st to 15th October
Last week was the Australian Institute of Business Brokers (AIBB) Annual Conference in Melbourne.  It was a great opportunity to mingle and network with other professional Business Brokers.  The general consensus is that the small business sales market, especially in Victoria, is tough. Whilst it is easy to focus on the negatives,  this an opportunity to really see how creative and smart we... more
