State of the Business Sales Market 1st to 15th June 2013

State of the Business Sales Market 1st to 15th June 2013
This week I attended a meeting of the Australian Institute of Business Brokers Victorian Chapter.  I attend these meeting regularly as it is a great opportunity to meet fellow professional business brokers with whom one can discuss and exchange ideas, performances and general state of the market.  I attend these meetings with the intention of sharing my experiences in the market and thus find... more

State of the Business Sales Market 15th to 30th May 2013

State of the Business Sales Market 15th to 30th May 2013
As suggested in the last report, total enquiries for the month of May are down on April.  However you will note from the graph below that it has picked up to the later part of the month of May.  I do suggest this rise in enquiries is due to a number of new business opportunities we presented to the market.  Unfortunately I do predict a downward trend again for June, as history indicates,... more

State of Business Sales Market 1st to 15th May 2013

State of Business Sales Market 1st to 15th May 2013
Admittedly I was quite surprised to see the results of the number of enquiries for May so far.  Whilst we are only half way through May the enquiry level to date is less than half the total of April.  I believe in the next few months we are going to see the external uncertainty influenced by the election, and some may argue the release of the Federal Budget may have already had an impact as... more

State of the Business Sales Market 15th to 30th April 2013

State of the Business Sales Market 15th to 30th April 2013
After a positive start in terms for enquiries for April it has dropped off in the later part of the month.  At the time of writing this report I’m lost for explanation as to the drop in the enquiries for late April, keep in mind we are only in the second day of week 18.  On a positive note when totalling the number of enquiries, whilst April is down on March it is still higher than February... more

State of the Business Sales Market 1st to 15th April 2013

State of the Business Sales Market 1st to 15th April 2013
Whilst it would appear that the Easter/School holidays did put the brakes on the level of enquiries, however you can see from the graphs below that the number of enquiries for the month of March is ahead of both January and February of this year.  Evidence of the Easter/School Holiday affect are illustrated in the second graph were enquiries are down for late March early April. The second graph... more

State of the Business Sales Market 15th to 28th March – Happy Easter

State of the Business Sales Market 15th to 28th March – Happy Easter
Within the next few short weeks I expect to see the level of enquiries on businesses slowing down until we get through the Easter period. The graph below shows firstly January, February and March enquiry levels for 2012, then November 2012 through to March 2013.  The graph illustrates March 2013 has seen a higher level of enquiries than February 2013 and slightly higher than January 2013. ... more

State of the Business Sales Market 1st to 15th March 2013

State of the Business Sales Market 1st to 15th March 2013
I was suitably surprised when I saw the statistics/graph below.  I was half expecting to write a report on how the long weekend and the news of Victoria in a recession for the last quarter of 2012 may have limited the number of enquiries for the month of March.  However halfway through March we are already on par with total enquiries with February and more than halfway past January.  I do... more

State of the Business Sales Market 15th to 28th February 2013

Surprisingly the amount of enquiries we have received for February is slightly lower than the number we experienced in January. Please keep in mind the figures from January are a little skewed due to the fact leads from the Xmas break are included in January figures, ie a lead on the 25th of December will be recorded as a January enquiry. However, you can still see that the number of... more
